Functional Training is a system of training that
emphasizes the "core" muscles that stabilize and protect the pelvis
and spine and controls balance and coordination for the purpose of healing,
rehabilitating, stabilizing, protecting, and strengthening weak joints, whether
it's the ankle, knee, hip, spine, or shoulders. Functional Training exercises simulate the
movements that we do in our every day routine, whether you are a top athlete, a
couch potato, or someone in between. Muscular imbalances are created from past
injuries, poor posture, or a faulty movement pattern due to some repeated
activity. This creates stress on a joint and eventually degradation of the
joint, compensations in other joints and the deterioration of that joint until
there is discomfort and ultimately chronic pain. The RJS
Fitness Hermosa Beach Personal Trainer utilizes Functional Training to
address
these issues and heal them so you can function better in life. You must
keep in mind that you are only as strong as you are stable: You can only produce as much force as you can
control. Functional Training utilizes
full body movements, using the whole body as one system to incorporate the use
of more muscles at the same time, forcing you to control the weight instead of
relying on a machine, bench or other device to maintain stability.
Functional Training works on
increasing strength while maintaining stability and removing stress away
from joints and placing it on the muscles where it belongs, lessening or
completely removing joint pain, of which back pain is the most common, and sciatic
nerve dysfunctions.
Incorporate
functional training methods with Traditional training, when appropriate, and a
nutrition program based on AHA and ADA
guidelines and you can increase your metabolism as you lose fat and maximize
calorie burning, increase muscular development, reduce or completely eliminate
pain, and have more energy during, and at the end of, your day.
